이솝우화 The Wolf and the Goat

 

A Wolf seeing a Goat feeding on brow of a high

cliff asked her to come down lower, for fear she should

miss her at that dizzy height.

"And moreover"

said he, " The grass is far sweeter and more abundant here below "

But the Goat replied, " Excuse me, it is not for my dinner that you

invite me, but for your own "

 

 

A Wolf seeing a Goat / 늑대가 염소를 보고 있다

feeding on brow of a high cliff / 염소는 높은 벼랑 언저리에서 풀을 뜯고 있다

asked her / 늑대가 물었다.

to come down lower, / 낮은 곳으로 내려오라고

for fear she shold miss her feet / 발을 헛디디면 안 되니까

at that dizzy height. / 그렇게 현기증이 날 정도로 높은 데서

" And moreover. " said he /  "게다가" 늑대가 덧붙였다

" The grass is far sweeter / "풀도 훨씬 많다

and more abundant here below." / 그리고 여기 아래가 양도 많단다"

But the Goat replied, / 하지만 염소가 대꾸했다

" Excuse me, / " 미안합니다만

it is not for my dinner / 내 식사 때문이 아니겠지요

that you invite me, / 당신이 나를 초대하는 건  

but for your own " / 당신 식사를 위해서겠지요.
